Appeasement vs Empowerment

Posted by Bawa on his blog http://bawandinesh.name/

Varun sent a mail asking whats the difference between Appeasement and Empowerment… I just started typing out the answer and was pretty impressed with it :) so here it is…

Giving a hungry person bread is appeasement
Teaching him to bake bread is empowerment

bread

Appeasement makes you dependent and weak, always whining and servile
Empowerment makes you strong and independent

When you do appeasement, and solve one problem for someone, that person/community will come up with 30 more
When you do empowerment you dont solve any problem, but you nudge the person/community into coming up with ideas and solutions to solve their own problems, then when you pose a problem to them, they come up with 30 solutions :)

Appeasement gets you votes and its short sighted at best
Empowerment will make the country great… and takes time, and will eventually make you a legend!

Jai Gurudeva!

GuYzZz now Become a terrorist and get paid by Govt

I am SHOCKED beyond words!!!
Indian Govt is giving FINANCIAL AID to families of TERRORISTS in Kashmir. See below video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK6xwFRQ7BQ

If we allow the current govt to continue I will not be surprised if terror attacks are planned, discussed and officially approved by the Parliament.

We need to throw these ENEMIES of the nation out of power.

Lets all VOTE FOR CHANGE

Some more CREDENTIALS of the current Govt of India

* 3850 dead in Terror attacks in over 3000 incidents since 2004.

* On the day of Mumbai train blasts, Govt of India gave Rs 150 crores for earthquake relief in Pakistan

* Govt of India gave Rs 3000 crores to Afghanistan. Innocent citizens of India who are Victims of terror attacks HAVE NOT GOT ANY AID.

* Rs. 51,000 Crore missing from the Indian Treasury - Report of Auditor General

* 72,80,000,00,00,000 You cant read that number...its Rs. 72,80,000 Crore(1500 Billion USD) black money of Indians in Swiss Bank. Our PM refused to demand for account holders identity, though Swiss Bank had offered to reveal. No marks for guessing why

* Madrasas are being shut down in Pakistan. Govt of India is giving them CBSE status !! Our Muslim brothers and sisters are being deprived of scientific secular education.

* Our Government has given 25 lakh scholarships ONLY to minority students. But poor students of other communities are not given similar scholarships.

* Out of 36000 temples in Andhra Pradesh, 28000 have closed down in the last five years.

* The minorities in Nagaland, Mizoram & Kashmir have not got the similar privileges like the minorities in other states? The Govt is following different rules for different religions?

* By the Home Minister’s own admission : "India is surrounded by a circle of fire". Rajiv Gandhi's vision of a powerful "SAARC" is now defunct.

* Below poverty line population increased by a horrifying 20 per cent. From 27 crores in 2004-2005, its now 32.5 crores.

* The Pakistani flag is now being hoisted in five districts of Assam. 92000 Hindu and 6000 Christians who have been evicted by Bangladeshi infiltrants, are now languishing in refugee camps. The government has turned a blind eye to this....

...the list is endless...

Don’t be deceived. What appears to be communal is not communal, and what appears to be secular is not secular.

Vote for a
Terror free nation,
Criminal free politics,
Corruption free governance,
VOTE FOR CHANGE

Jaago Youths Jaago

A) Is this Government really protecting us??!!

7/11 2006: Mumbai Train Blasts. 209 Killed.
25/8 2007: Hyderbad Blasts: 42 Killed
Oct 11 2007: Ajmer Blasts : 2 Killed
May 13 2008: Jaipur Blasts : 68 Killed
July 16th 2008: Ahmedabad Blasts : 57 Killed
July 25th 2008: Banglaore Blasts: 1 killed
Sept 13th 2008: Delhi Blasts: 26 Killed
Sept 27th 2008: Delhi Blasts: 2 Killed
Sept 29th 2008 : Gujrat Blasts : 1 killed
Oct 21st 2008: Imphal Blasts : 17 Killed
Oct 30th 2008: Assam Blasts : 40 Killed
Nov 26th 2008: Mumbai Attack: 180 killed

Every major city in India has been attacked consistently over the last two years.
Since 2004, 3850 Indians have died in Terror attacks in over 3000 incidents.
Is the common Indian on the streets really safe ?

Did you know that on the day of the Mumbai train blasts, the Government gave Rs 150 crores for earthquake relief in Pakistan ? Last year our Govt. has given Rs 3000 crores (600 Million Dollars) to Afghanistan? This, when victims of terror in India have not yet got aid? What’s going on?

B) Is this Government really secular ?

1) When Madrasas are being shut down in Pakistan, the Indian Government is giving them CBSE status !! It is depriving Muslim children in getting secular education. A Madrasa educated person can get a job in any government office without going through the secular education system. Can India afford to have fundamentalists in government departments? Why cannot the government shut down Madrassas and let Muslim children study with the rest?

2) Our Government has given 25 lakh scholarships ONLY to minority students..
What sin have the majority done not to deserve these?
Why cannot poor students of all communities be given scholarships instead of only Muslim children?

3) Thanks to the Congress led Government, out of 36000 temples in Andhra Pradesh, 28000 have closed down in the last five years. Do you want the same trend to continue in other parts of the country? Do you want a Nagaland type of situation in the whole of India? While government controls most of the Hindu temples, the minority community has had full freedom to organize their religious bodies.. The minority communities now have the first right over resources. Is this not a blatant violation of fundamental rights of the majority community?

4) Why have the minorities in Nagaland, Mizoram & Kashmir not got the similar privileges like the minorities in other states? Why is the Govt following different rules for different religions?

C) Is this government really making friends or enemies for India ?

Thanks to a weak and visionless foreign policy, India has created enemies all around. By the Home Minister’s own admission : "India is surrounded by a circle of fire". Rajiv Gandhi's vision of a powerful "SAARC" is now defunct.

1) Today, India commands little respect from all its neighbours, despite being the largest democracy in the world.
2) Terrorism has engulfed the country from inside and outside. Of course Pakistan, the motherland of international terrorism continues to be a big threat.
3) China has territorial ambitions on India.
4) Nepal, is now being headed by a Maoist government and is ideologically more aligned to China. While India helped to dismantle the dynastic rule in Nepal our own Government surreptitiously supports dynastic rule within its own party.
5) Myanmar is increasingly aligning with Chinese forces with huge Chinese investments in that region.
6) Indian Policies in Srilanka have made Tamil Nadu burn. Will Tamils ever forgive India for encouraging military assault rather than facilitating peaceful dialogue on their north and north east regions.
7) Bangladesh continues to repeatedly aid and abet terrorism.

D) Is this Government really pro-poor?

The number of people living below the poverty line has increased by a horrifying 20 per cent. India had some 270 million people below the poverty line in 2004-2005, when the present Government took office. That number has gone up by 55 million, or 20 per cent!

E) Does this Government really care about the nation?

The Pakistani flag is now being hoisted in five districts of states like Assam where the Muslim population has gone up significantly. 92000 Hindu and 6000 Christians are now languishing in refugee camps. The government has turned a blind eye to this.

In the name of security, innocent people have been put in jails, whereas people like Yaasin Malik who has 23 murder charges on him, are moving Scot free and gathering their own strength. Is it acceptable to any patriotic Indian?

Can the Congress led UPA promise a non-muslim CM in J&K ? Reservation for a Hindu student in Nagaland ? If so, we wholeheartedly support them. Otherwise they should sit at home the next few years and rethink their policies.

Can our politicians stop stooping down to any lengths just for money and power ? Like Mr.Sharad Pawar, who first ditched the Congress and then ditched the people and aligned back with the Congress, just to be in power.

Don’t be deceived. What appears to be communal is not communal, and what appears to be secular is not secular. It is time we change our thinking.

Having said all this even BJP has not proved to be any better.
But for now we need a change. Let us choose the lesser of the two evils.
The same party brought to power again and again means encouraging unabated corruption.

Or support the candidates who are good and fighting on their own.

Help those candidates who are good, clean and progressive not the criminals.

All these important things are delibrately hidden by the media after taking good money for their patriotism.
All the electronic media is either governed by any other foreign agency or any seccular party.
They are indirectly making mindsets of people according to their own wish.
In any way we are not in freedom.Thousands of people lost their lives so that we can vote and live in a society
which is violence free ,terror free and fulfilling all their needs.
Stand up for this most tolerant and ancient civilization and prevent this great nation from becoming a communal battleground. As citizens of India we must vote for change.

WAKE UP INDIANS. LET US VOTE FOR CHANGE.

I will not request you to forward this.If you are aware and want others also, you will do it on your own.

Our inaction is responsible for what is happening not the action taken by these people.

!! JAAGO YUVAA JAAGO !!

Its TIME TO VOTE
The only way to make difference in the society is by voting.VOTE n take
a step forward for making a Revolution!!
Lets start by simply creating awareness to vote for a less corrupt
govt.[you know what i mean ;) ] everyday by informing 5 people(right
from the rickshawallahs,servants to boss,neighbours)

!! JAAGO YUVAA JAAGO !!

(Approx. 60% of India's population is Youth)
who are really willing to contribute towards nation!!

Jai Hind..
Pass it on ...
Elections are just around the corner.

Do you want all that has in happened in past 5 yrs to repeat??...NO....
then VOTE BABY VOTE...

If you say that all candidates are UNFIT and that you DO NOT want to VOTE them...
STILL GO....

Go to the polling booth and say NO VOTE so that your VOTE IS COUNTED and that it is not misused by a FAKE CAST....

How??

OK so here we have RULE 49-O

It simply enables your vote to be COUNTED even if you DO NOT want to CAST your PRECIOUS vote to any candidate
Simply go to the PRESIDING OFFICER at the POOLING BOOTH and ask him for FORM 17-A or NO VOTE FORM and sign it. This makes your vote COUNTED.

Now, THE MISCONCEPTION.

"If number of people invoking the right to 49-O become more than the total number of votes to the winning candidate, then a RE-POLL is ordered and that their candidature is canceled for future.".

THIS IS NOT TRUE.

RULE 49-O EXISTS ONLY FOR VOTE TALLYING PURPOSE.

BUT this is NOT the solution.... so VOTE a COMPARATIVELY BETTER CANDIDATE to get a comparatively BETTER GOVERNMENT....

and those who are ABOVE 18 and DO NOT have an ELECTORAL IDENTITY CARD or a VOTER CARD, pleaseeeee get it made...

and pleaseeeeee DO NOT reply to this post with "good" or "nice" .... when you REPLY, reply with the NUMBER OF PEOPLE whom you have INSPIRED and made AWARE about VOTING and its related procedures... then I would reply to your posts with these adjectives.....

Jai Ho Indian Government

Indian government donates 50 Cr. Rs. To Harvard University just because Mr. Nehru studied there……………Jai ho Indian government.

Centre's Rs26 cr donation to the UK institution beats comprehension

There was an interesting piece of news recently, about the University of Cambridge launching the 'Jawaharlal Nehru Professorship of Indian Business and Enterprise' to mark the centenary of Nehru's arrival at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied for a degree in Natural Sciences.

So far so good. But, the lines that followed gave away the real story.

Going by the reports, the chair has been set up with a fund of £3.2 million (~Rs26 crore) contributed by the government of India. The professorship will be assigned to the Judge Business School, which itself was created with £0.5 million funding from energy company BP. The university will retain the entire benefaction as permanent endowment and will use the net income from investment of the sum towards salary and expenses of the holder of the professorship and under associated overheads.

The news item did not find a place on the front page of any newspaper, though some national dailies did carry it on the inside pages. Nor was there any debate on it by academicians or comments by the editors.

All the same, the use of government money to facilitate the fund-raising activity of Cambridge or other UK institutions raises several questions.

It is common knowledge that post-Thatcher era, educational institutions in the UK have been forced to raise the fees, particularly for foreign students. Even so, the fees do not cover even 25% of the cost of running these institutions. Hence most of these institutions are going around the world with a begging bowl camouflaged as road shows for their graduate and undergraduate course. They are desperate for funds and their endowments/ corpus is much lesser than that of US universities.

Oxford and Cambridge, each with around $5 billion as endowments, are far behind Harvard and Yale, which are flush with funds to the tune of $50 billion and $30 billion, respectively. Even comparable US universities like the Texas System or Michigan have much higher endowments than them.

Now, why should a developing country like India fund the declining institutions of the West, and more so, those of the UK?

If Cambridge was so fascinated about Nehru entering it as a student or about the India Story, it should have approached a private financier or company in the UK to fund this endowment.

And why should Nehru's entry into Trinity College be such a major event? Many others, like Ambedkar, had entered colleges in England, and several others, including Lal Bahadur Shastri, C Rajagopalachari (Rajaji) and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had entered colleges in India.

When the ministry of HRD is finding it difficult to fund even Rs1 crore for additional classrooms in institutions of higher learning in India, how could it have decided to donate over Rs25 crore to a British university?

It is also ironical that the professorship is for business studies, while Nehru was the architect of the licence permit quota Raj in India. It is like the butchers' association of Texas providing a chair to study Gandhian thought in some US university.

Indeed, a centre named after Rajaji might have been much more appropriate as far as the business aspects are concerned. He was a leader who stood for entrepreneurship and market economy.

The courtiers and family retainers may be already crowding around relevant ministries and power centres to get the position, but nothing can justify this subsidy.

What the government could have done is make the materials in the Nehru Memorial and Library accessible to all researchers in India, without the need to get prior permission from the trustees. Currently, getting access isn't an easy proposition and very often, permission is denied.

We need to encourage more research in the Indian context and on new paradigms of businesses. And for that, Cambridge is not an appropriate place for the government to subsidise Rs25 crore.

More importantly, Britain is not known for business education and research, and contemporary shop owners in the UK are often from the Indian subcontinent. In fact, many of these non-resident Indians could have provided this subsidy or alms to Cambridge.

I presume Cambridge has arm-twisted the government of India to get the funds and we in our colonial hang-up, think we have been done a great favour by the British.

Will the Indian mind ever get decolonised?
